Criminology at the University of Gdańsk is modern and pioneering field of study in the whole country, exceptional also in Europe. It was set up by Faculty of Law and Administration and Faculty of Social Sciences with the cooperation of Polish Academy of Sciences.

Education in the field of Criminology is carried out as three-year first-cycle program (Bachelor) and two-year study program of second cycle (complementary Master studies). Application for Bachelor program can be made by holders of secondary school graduation certificate (matriculation certificate), whereas for Master studies - by holders of Bachelor title. Studies are offered as full-time and extra-mural course. The interdisciplinary study program is based on the latest achievements in biology, political science, management, philosophy, law and criminology. It was planned in such a way as to provide wide knowledge about the man, the society and law.

The field of Criminology offers knowledge and practical skills, which give high qualifications in work in the broadly defined judiciary (like in the police as a probation or prison officer) and also in nongovernmental organizations (for example as mediators or social workers). Graduates of first-cycle program are granted the professional title of Bachelor which allows the holder to apply to complementary Master program (including the planned course in the field of criminology of second cycle) and also to continue education on post-diploma studies. Graduates of second-cycle program are granted the professional title of Master.
