Prof. Wojciech Zalewski elected to the Board of Governors of the International Association of Law Schools

We are pleased to announce that the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration, Prof. Wojciech Zalewski, Sc.D. joined on January 1st the Board of Governors of the International Association of Law Schools (IALS). The members of the IALS Board of Governors are elected in a multi-stage procedure by representatives of the law schools associated in the organisation from all over the world. Candidates are proposed by the Nominating Committee. It is an unique distinction for both the person and the law school she/he represents. The Board of Governors consists of 13 to 16 people, with the principle that it can only be one person from a given country. Prof. Wojciech Zalewski is the only and the first in the history of the organisation to represent Poland in its authorities. The term of office of a Governor is 3 years. In January, five new members joined the Management Board. Apart from Prof. W. Zalewski, there are representatives of law schools from Chile, India, Qatar and Nigeria. The Management Board also includes representatives of law schools from China, USA, Singapore, Great Britain, South Africa, Russia and Tanzania. The management board meets several times a year to discuss the current affairs of the organisation.
In September 2019, the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk hosted the most prestigious event organised by IALS every two years: the Worldwide Forum of Deans of Law Faculties. More than 100 representatives of law departments from 34 countries around the world, from all continents, came to Gdańsk at that time. The forum organised by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk (the first event of this type in Poland) was praised by the participants. Choosing Prof. Wojciech Zalewski is also the result of the success of 2019.

Congratulations!
