Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights in the Times of Emerging Technologies
The over development or rather the advanced form of technologies is not only disrupting or interrupting the day-to-day life of an individual but it is rather intrusive and transgressing into domains of human individuality, integrity and dignity. The over indulgence of the government and multi-national corporations is not only violating privacy but also making the digital citizens vulnerable to data infringements hence, violating their basic right to life. The use of technology for enhancing human capabilities by use of neuroprosthetic connected to artificial intelligence is intrusive to human rights in the absence of legal safeguards. The surveillance by the government authorities by way of tapping of phones and de-cryption of messages in the absence of legal regime is a threat to the fundamental freedoms of any individual across the globe. Another such curtailment is of freedom of speech and expression in the form of internet shutdowns, banning of websites and blocking of apps. The cases of sexual assaults in advanced technology like me-taverse is indicative that humans are not just vulnerable in the physical world but must be cyber secured in the digital world as well. The emerging crimes like cyber murder, attacks on critical infrastructure and manipulation health records used for precision medicine are all trending and violating the privacy, individuality and safety of the individuals. The role of artificial intelligence in violating and infringing the fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual will be the center stage for discussions.
