International project with funding from the Polish-German Foundation for Science (PNFN)
On 8th July 2022, a project entitled "Economy, Finance and Sustainable Development (Wirtschaft, Finanzen und Nachhaltige Entwicklung)", the leader of which is the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk, received a grant from the Polish-German Foundation for Science (PNFN) based in Frankfurt, Germany.
The head of the international project is Dr. Hanna Wolska from the Department of Public Economic Law and Environmental Protection Law. The research team includes: Prof. Andrzej Powałowski (Department of Public Economic Law and Environmental Protection Law), Assoc. Prof. Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler (Department of Financial Law), Assoc. Prof. Edvardas Juchnevicius (Department of Financial Law), Dr. Damian Cyman (Department of Financial Law), Dr. Przemysław Panfil (Department of Financial Law) and Aleksandra Szydzik, MA (Department of Constitutional Law and Political Institutions).
The project "Economy, Finance and Sustainable Development (Wirtschaft, Finanzen und Nachhaltige Entwicklung)" will be implemented in partnership with: the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań (head: Dr. Anna Trela), the University of Giessen (head: Dr. Magdalena Jaś-Nowopolska), the Jagiellonian University in Kraków (head: Assoc. Prof. Michał Biliński), the University of Silesia in Katowice (head: Assoc. Prof. Ewa Przeszło, and Dr. Agnieszka Piwowarczyk) together with the C.H. Beck Publishing House (head: Dr. Joanna Ablewicz).
The aim of the project is to conduct research on the impact and implementation of the value of sustainable development on the economy and finance in Poland and Germany. The project will include analysis from a comparative perspective - both from a horizontal point of view, i.e. at the national level and from the vertical point of view, that is from the point of view of the relationship between a state and the European Union, while also taking into account the similarities and differences between Poland and Germany in this respect. The research will be conducted simultaneously on several dogmatic levels, from the perspective of economic law, financial law, constitutional law and environmental law. The implementation of the principle of sustainable development includes many socio-economic activities in which the processes of integrating political, economic and social activity take place, while maintaining the natural balance and durability of basic natural processes in order to guarantee the possibility of satisfying the basic needs of individual communities or citizens of both the contemporary generation and future generations. Therefore, the value of sustainable development goes beyond issues strictly related to environmental protection. It is also a reference point for the issues of infrastructure development, building social ties or shaping spatial order, thus gaining a universal character.
Polish and German young scientists from leading university centers will be invited to participate in the project, and, under selected specializations, they will conduct research focused on economy, finance and sustainable development.
