Dr. Anna Adamska-Gallant appointed judge of the ECtHR

Our Faculty graduate, Dr. Anna Adamska-Gallant, was elected by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The Polish candidate was selected in the first vote, during which she obtained an absolute majority.

 

Dr Anna Adamska-Gallant sędzią ETPCzDr. Anna Adamska-Gallant is a lawyer with over 20 years of experience. For 17 years she served as a judge in Poland and the Balkans, ruling mainly in criminal cases. In 2013-2018 she worked as an international judge in the Balkans, where she tried cases of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. In 2015 she was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Kosovo, and since 2018 she has been working as an independent expert on justice and the rule of law for Expertise France, the Council of Europe and the World Bank, among others. She also advises on the process of building an independent justice system in Ukraine.
