The rise of the artificial artist: AI creativity, copyright, and database right“ – lecture by Giuseppe Abbamonte, European Commission

fotoThe Department of Human Rights and Intellectual Property Rights cordially invites students and employees of our faculty to listen to the lecture presented by Mr. Giuseppe Abbamonte, Director for Media Policy at the European Commission. 

The lecture entitled "The rise of the artificial artist: AI creativity, copyright, and database right" will be preceded by a short introduction made by prof. Maciej Barczewski. 

The event is planned for May 13, 2021, at 15:00 and will be available via the MS Teams platform. 

Giuseppe Abbamonte has been the Director for Media Policy at the European Commission since 2016. He heads the directorate responsible for copyright law, broadcasting law, the MEDIA programme and fighting online disinformation. Mr. Abbamonte in his long career was also responsible for the elaboration of the European Data Strategy. 

Moreover, as a member of the European Commission, he supervised and directed the elaboration of the European Cybersecurity Strategy and European law on network and information security. He also gained expertise in handling complex mergers, State aid cases, and knowledge of consumer law as he worked in the Antitrust and Consumer Protection departments of the European Commission. In addition to his work for the European Commission, Mr. Abbamonte teaches media law to master students at the Bocconi University in Milan and gives lectures and presentations on European law at several European universities.
