Participation of Assoc. Prof. Tomasz Koncewicz and Marcin Michalak, PhD, from the Department of European Law and Legal Comparative Studies and Anna Podolska, PhD, from the Department of Human Rights and Intellectual Property Law, as speakers at the workshop Accountability and Freedom of Expression of Magistrates and Attorneys in Europe organized within the international project TRIIAL.   

The international workshops were held on 16-17 June and their purpose was to discuss why accountability is important for ensuring the rule of law and how it can be ensured while preserving the freedom of expression of magistrates, as well as their independence and impartiality.

The training was developed as part of the European Commission funded project TRIIAL - TRust, Independence, Impartiality and Accountability of judges and arbitrators safeguarding the rule of Law under the EU Charter (Horizon 2020, project number 853832, JUST-JTRA-EJTR-AG-2018).
 

Assoc. Prof.Tomasz Koncewicz delivered a speech entitled Understanding Social Legitimacy of the Judicial Power in Times of Constitutional Reckoning.

Marcin Michalak, PhD prepared training materials and moderated a panel on the legitimacy of disciplinary courts to ask preliminary questions to the CJEU. 

Anna Podolska, PhD prepared training materials for the panel on the legitimacy of disciplinary courts to ask preliminary questions to the CJEU.
