Scientists from our Faculty at an international conference in Japan

Researchers from our Faculty participated in the international conference organized by the Japanese Section of the International Association for the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR).

The “East Meets West: Justice, Law and Politics” conference took place at the Chiba University between 16 and 18 September 2023. Two of the conference talks were given by our colleagues.

First, a paper titled “Aesthetics of Law as a Branch of the Philosophy of Law” was co-authored and presented by Prof. Kamil Zeidler (President of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) - Polish Section, Chair in Theory and Philosophy of State and Law, University of Gdańsk), Paula Chmielowska (doctoral student) and Dr. Dawid Kostecki (Catholic University of Lublin).

Second, Assoc. Prof. Tomasz Widłak (Vice-President of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) - Polish Section) gave a talk titled "The way of the judge: on judicial virtues and appointing judges of character" (part of the research project "Judges & Virtues. A Study in the Aretaic Theory of Judiciary" sponsored by the NCN – Narodowe Centrum Nauki).

Both Prof. Kamil Zeidler and Assoc. Prof. Tomasz Widłak were entrusted by the organisers with the honour of chairing panel sessions.
