The Commonality v The Divergence: The rule of law standards and the role and limits of the courtroom

On June 21, 2021, an international scientific conference will be held at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk. "The Commonality v The Divergence: The rule of law standards and the role and limits of the courtroom".

 

The conference is organized by the RECONNECT Team of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk headed by Assoc. Prof. Tomasz T. Koncewicz, as part of a four-year multidisciplinary research project entitled 'Reconciling Europe with its Citizens through Democracy and the Rule of Law'. The main goal of the project is to better understand the challenges that the European Union is currently facing and to propose appropriate solutions to meet these challenges. By focusing on strengthening the EU's legitimacy through democracy and the rule of law, RECONNECT seeks to build a new narrative for Europe, enabling the EU to better adapt to the expectations of its citizens. RECONNECT brings together 18 partner academic institutions from 14 countries.

 

The main topic of the RECONNECT conference at the University of Gdańsk Law Faculty will be the analysis of the role of supranational and national courts in the process of creating and guaranteeing an appropriate standard of the rule of law, which is not only a fundamental constitutional principle, but also a fundamental value of the European Union.

 

There will be eminent representatives of the doctrine of European Union law, theory and philosophy of law as well as judges among the Conference speakers.
