About the Speaker:
Nikita Nimbalkar is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the School of Law, CHRIST University (Deemed to be University) in India, where she teaches Economics for Law and Public Policy.
Her recent research focuses on digital financial literacy among slum women in Dharavi, Mumbai and Parvati, Pune. Nikita began her career as a Chief Minister’s Fellow with the Government of Maharashtra, where she contributed to several developmental projects. She also worked at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), where her expertise was crucial in budget preparation, investment policy, and promoting Mumbai in the Megacities Alliance on Water and Climate under UNESCO.
Notably, she led the ‘Home Isolation of COVID-19 Patients’ Project in Mumbai, using digital tracking to effectively manage patients during the pandemic. Her work extends to various government projects focused on the digitalization of public services and socio-economic development.
