The lecture is open to all students, faculty members, and guests interested in judicial systems, arbitration, and the selection and retention of judges in state and federal courts.
About the Speaker:
Prof. Stephen J. Ware is a distinguished scholar in the fields of arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, contracts, commercial law, and bankruptcy. He has authored four books and 49 law review articles, many of which have been cited by the Supreme Court of the United States and in at least 35 other federal and state cases.
Prof. Ware has testified before the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, state legislatures, and has served as an expert witness in court. He frequently speaks at academic and professional conferences in the U.S. and internationally.
He was named the Frank Edwards Tyler Distinguished Professor of Law in 2019 and has taught at six law schools, including Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.
A recognized expert on judicial selection, particularly in the context of state courts, Prof. Ware is an elected member of the American Law Institute (ALI) and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Legal Education. He is also an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
His insights have been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Financial Times, and National Law Journal.
