About the Lecture:
This lecture presents an introduction to Chilean Environmental Law through a comparative lens, exploring key themes such as legal transplants, environmental law principles, environmental impact assessment, and regulatory responses to exceptional situations. It aims to provide Polish students with conceptual tools to analyze environmental institutions and compare them with their domestic systems, using the Chilen institutions for this first comparative approach. The course emphasizes cultural and legal diversity while fostering dialogue on shared principles and global environmental challenges..."
About the Lecturer:
Jorge Aranda Ortega is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Chile. He holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Brasília (2019), an LL.M. in Public Law from the University of Chile (2013), and a Law degree from the same institution (2009). Since 2008, he has been affiliated with the Environmental Law Center, where he currently teaches. He has lectured on environmental law in various faculties of the University of Chile and has guided research on the intersection of forestry and environmental regulation. His academic contributions include publications in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Costa Rica. He has held visiting research positions at the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Court of Justice of Brazil, as well as at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Romania. He collaborates with research groups and editorial boards in Brazil focused on constitutional law, natural resources, and regulatory studies..."
