About the Lecture:
This lecture explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in forensic law and its implications for enhancing the global criminal justice system. It includes examining how AI technologies—such as facial recognition, voice analysis, and digital forensics—are currently being integrated into criminal investigations and forensic procedures across jurisdictions.
The session offers a comparative overview of how countries like the United States, the European Union, and India are adopting and regulating forensic AI tools. It critically analyzes the legal and ethical challenges these technologies pose, including risks of bias, violations of due process, questions around evidence admissibility, and the impact on the right to a fair trial.
The lecture also addresses concerns about transparency, accountability, and the reliability of algorithmic decision-making in criminal proceedings. It also highlights best practices, safeguards, and international collaborative efforts that aim to harness the benefits of AI while upholding fundamental rights and legal integrity.
