Brief description:
This topic elaborates on the importance and need of cybersecurity in maritime sector. It differentiates from IT and OT threats, various other cyber threats to the ports and ships. It will highlight contemporary legal issues evolving while the sector concentrates on digitisation and digitalisation of the sector.


About lecturer:
Guest Lecture by Assist. Prof. Bangaru Laxmi Jasti (Mahindra University, INDIA)Ms. Jasti is currently working as Assistant Professor at Mahindra University. She is also a Research scholar at NALSAR University of Law and is working on Cybersecurity Regulations in Maritime Sector. She is also faculty co-ordinator for Legal Aid cell at Mahindra University. Ms. Jasti holds LLM in International Law and International Security from University of Glasgow, UK. She also holds a MA degree in Security and Defence Laws and a PG Diploma in Cyber Laws. She graduated with a gold medal from Osmania University’s Padala Rama Reddi Law College with a law degree. She has organized numerous seminars and webinars on various subjects throughout her tenure at NALSAR. She had also taught post graduate (MA) students on various topics like Aviation security, Space laws, defence laws, terrorism and counter-terrorism laws, GIS and Remote Sensing Laws, Telecommunication Laws in India. Before joining academia, she practiced in the High court of Telangana, India.
