Prof. Dr. Sudirman Hasan, M.A., is the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Sharia Faculty at Maliki Islamic University, Malang, Indonesia.  His expertise lies in Islamic law, particularly family law. He teaches Islamic family law and Islamic philanthropy. Most of his research focuses on these areas. He recently completed some research on mixed marriages in Korea and women in conflict with the law in Indonesia and Turkey. His academic expertise will bridge the understanding of contemporary Islamic law and its relevance to applicable Indonesian law, with its specific characteristics, such as the adoption of customary law into national law.
