Seminar with Prof. Dr. Lukas Rademacher (Kiel University, GERMANY)

We are happy to host a special seminar led by Professor Dr. Lukas Rademacher from Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (Kiel University, Germany).

Date: 12 June 2026
Time: 11:00
Venue: Room 2002, Faculty of Law and Administration
Language: English with Polish translation available

The seminar will address the highly significant theoretical and practical challenges related to environmental protection through private law. The first part of the seminar will report on current proceedings before German courts concerning claims for damages due to climate change, raising interesting questions of private international law and substantive law. The second part will address the current legislative process regarding the "right to repair"; the corresponding directive must also be implemented in Poland. This raises equally interesting private international law questions.

This seminar will be valuable for:

  • Faculty members and researchers in civil law, environmental law, private international law, and EU law
  • Doctoral and advanced law students
  • Judges and legal professionals and practitioners

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Professor Rademacher holds the Chair of Civil Law, Private International Law, and Comparative Law at the University of Kiel and serves as Co-Director of the Institute for European and International Private and Procedural Law. Before assuming his current position in February 2023, Professor Rademacher worked on the Academic Research Council at the University of Cologne, where he completed his Habilitation in 2022. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Münster in 2016.

Professor Rademacher's research focuses on cross-border legal relations, with particular emphasis on international family law and the coordination of different legal systems in our increasingly globalized society.

We cordially invite all faculty members, researchers, and students to participate in this exceptional opportunity to engage with one of Europe's leading experts in private law.

The Faculty extends its sincere gratitude to Professor Arkadiusz Wowerka (Division of Private International Law)  for organizing this valuable academic event.
