Dr. Jamilah, MA is a graduted from Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
She wrote on women and divorce in East Javanese Muslim society in contemporary Indonesia to complete her doctorate on Islam studies which is funded by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia.
She received an MA in the same field from Syarif Hidayatullah state Islamic university Jakarta, in Indonesia under the partnership with McGill University, Canada.
She has been engaged in a various program on Islam and gender since 2013 especially during her involvement in the center of gender studies at Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University, Malang, Indonesia where she received her bachelor degree and is affiliated currently.
Apart from her teaching activities at the university, she works voluntarily as a mediator at the religious court in Malang, East Java. Recently, she has been also involved in training and research on religious moderation. Her research interests are on gender, Islamic family law, community development, religiousity and religious moderation
