Cyber Law and Cyber Security: New Double Diploma Initiative Under Development with Uzbekistan
Our Faculty has taken a significant step towards establishing a pioneering undergraduate programme in Cyber Law and Cyber Security, developed as a double diploma initiative in partnership with Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL), Uzbekistan.
On the occasion of an official visit by representatives of our long-standing partner institution, a working meeting was held to commence preparations for the launch of a new Bachelor's degree programme entitled "Cyber Law and Cyber Security." The programme is being designed as a double diploma offering in cooperation with Tashkent State University of Law and will also involve collaboration with other partner universities of both institutions.
The meeting brought together academics from both universities. The University of Gdańsk was represented by Prof. Jakub Szlachetko - Head of the Faculty's Centre for New Technologies Law, Prof. Marcin M. Wiszowaty - Vice Dean for International Cooperation and Development, and Prof. Edvardas Juchnevičius - Rector's Plenipotentiary for International Cooperation. The delegation from TSUL included Prof. Said Gulyamov - Head of the Department of Cyber Law and founder of the renowned Scientific School of Cyber Law at TSUL, and Dr Anna Ubaydullayeva from the Department of Cyber Law at TSUL - a researcher specialising in artificial intelligence, intellectual property, and data protection within the framework of cyber law.
During the meeting, a dedicated working group was established to oversee the development of the new programme. The team also includes Ms Karolina Wilamowska, an attorney and alumni of the postgraduate programme in LegalTech and Innovations in the Legal Industry, who specialises in new technologies law, intellectual property law, and personal data protection.
The objective is to launch the programme with student recruitment commencing in the academic year 2027/2028. While the task ahead is both challenging and demanding, the working group has demonstrated remarkable commitment and enthusiasm for bringing this innovative initiative to fruition.
