This lecture examines the growing role of private actors in space activities and the resulting private law challenges. It focuses on contracts, liability, risk allocation, insurance, and dispute resolution in the commercial space sector, with references to international and comparative practice.

Maral Gül Erol is a multilingual attorney, author, mentor, sworn translator, and lead auditor with a multidisciplinary practice spanning private and public law. She holds an LL.B. from Başkent University and completed advanced online training in Contract Law at Harvard Law School, as well as Commercial Legal English at Cambridge Law Studio. A member of the Ankara Bar Association since 2019, she works extensively in IT law, aerospace law, commercial law, IPR, and international law. She is a founding member of the Space Law Commission of TOBBUYUM, an active member of SGAC, and serves as Russia and Turkmenistan Coordinator for the Mars on Earth Project. A committed advocate for human rights, she regularly contributes to international legal initiatives. Maral is a published author and educator. She is also knowledgeable in ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 45001, ISO 13485, and ISO 17021. By 2026, she had earned more than 110+ certificates. She looks forward to further developing her career and contributing her multidisciplinary knowledge through productive international collaborations.
