Polish-German Scientific Seminar on the Functioning of the Judiciary in EU member states
On Friday, May 12, 2023 at our Faculty we hosted lawyers from the German-Polish Lawyers Association "Walbrzych-Marburg", based in Marburg, Germany. Our guests were received by Prof. Ewa Baginska - Head of the Department of Civil Law, and by Assoc. Prof. Sylwia Majkowska-Szulc with Assoc. Prof. Arkadiusz Wowerka, from the Department of Private International Law.
On the occasion of the visit, an international scientific seminar was held on the legal systems of Poland and Germany and current problems related to the functioning of the judiciary in EU member states. As part of the seminar, Assoc.Prof. Arkadiusz Wowerka, Prof. UG delivered a lecture entitled "Gegenseitige Anerkennug und Vollstreckung von Entscheidungen in Zivilsachen und Rechtsstatsprizip" ("Mutual Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments in Civil Cases and the Rule of Law"), which was then accompanied by a lively discussion leading to interesting and fruitful conclusions.
The seminar was attended, among others, by the President of the German-Polish Lawyers Association "Walbrzych-Marburg" Judge Maciej Ejsmont - (Judge of the District Court in Swidnica), Carsten Paul - Judge of the German Federal Court in Karlsruhe, Georg Falk - Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Land of Hesse, Hainer Franosch - Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of the Land of Hesse, as well as attorneys, notaries and prosecutors from Hesse and Lower Silesia, in addition to the initiator of the seminar, Prof. Magdalena Fedorowicz, of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
