Lecture by Prof. Alvaro Bedoya, US Federal Trade Commissioner
Last Tuesday we had a pleasure to host a special guest - Prof. Alvaro Bedoya from Georgetown University, Head of Georgetown Law's Center on Privacy & Technology - currently holding the office of US Federal Trade Commissioner.
As part of the doctoral seminar of the Department of Economic Law and Environmental Protection (led by Prof. Maciej Nyka), Professor Bedoya gave an inspiring lecture.
After the official opening of the seminar and the address from the Dean of our Faculty, Prof. Wojciech Zalewski, Prof. Bedoya gave a lecture on regulatory functions of Federal Trade Commission in the US in the field of social media and AI.
Thanks to organizational cooperation with the Department of Legal Informatics and the Division of Private International Law, the seminar was attended by not only PhD students, but also many law students as well as lecturers.
Lecture was followed by many questions from the audience. The hybrid formula made it possible to attend by scholars from other Polish Law Schools (among them: Prof. Anna Piszcz and Dr. Karolina Zapolska from Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Białystok) and others who joined us online for this event.
Our special thanks go to our Special Guest, Prof. Alvaro Bedoya for an insightful and thought-provoking lecture.
Our special thanks go also to Prof. Wojciech Wiewiórowski (Department of Legal Informatics) for invaluable help in inviting the Guest and organizing his visit.
We would like to thank the Dean of the Faculty Prof. Wojciech Zalewski for his participation and support of the project
