Report: "Dialogues on Humanity" – Exhibition and Scientific Seminar

On May 5, 2025, the Faculty of Law and Administration hosted the opening of the exhibition and seminar entitled “Dialogues on Humanity.” The event was a collaborative initiative of the Department of International Law, the Embassy of Switzerland in Poland, and the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Poland.

The event was attended by Mr. Marc Bruchez, Deputy Head of the Embassy of Switzerland in Poland, and Ms. Aleksandra Matijevic Mosimann, representative of the ICRC Delegation in Poland. Both dignitaries officially opened the exhibition and delivered lectures during the accompanying seminar, focusing on international humanitarian law and humanitarian assistance. The event was formally inaugurated on behalf of the Faculty by the Vice-Dean for International Cooperation and Development, Prof. Marcin Michał Wiszowaty, Ph.D. (UG).

The exhibition “Dialogues on Humanity” was developed by Photo Elysée, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to mark the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions. It explores the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence—values fundamental to modern humanitarian action. The photographs on display offer a unique perspective, engaging viewers through the universal language of visual art. Rather than proposing definitive answers, the images invite reflection, encouraging visitors to consider how humanitarian principles are applied in everyday life and creating a space for dialogue about the essence of humanity. The exhibition has already toured nearly every continent, having been shown in Tanzania, the United States, Jordan, Mexico, China, Finland, Canada, and Cuba.

The “Dialogues on Humanity” exhibition will remain open to visitors in the main hall on the first floor of the Faculty of Law and Administration until May 14, 2025.
