Join us for an expert talk titled “Law of OTT (Over-The-Top) Platforms in India: Challenges, Governance, Rights, and Accountability.”
The lecture will examine the fast-evolving regulatory landscape for OTT platforms in India, including questions of platform governance and liability, content standards and enforcement, users’ rights and remedies, data protection and cybersecurity obligations, and the accountability of intermediaries. Dr Kaur will also reflect on comparative approaches and the implications for policymakers, industry, and civil society.

About the Speaker
Dr Gagandeep Kaur is an LL.B. and LL.M. Gold Medalist and holds a Ph.D. in Law with expertise in Cyber Laws, IT Laws, Cyber Crimes, and Data Protection. She has over 15 years of teaching and research experience and is currently an Associate Professor at the School of Law, UPES Dehradun. Previously, she taught at Rajiv Gandhi National Law University (Patiala), Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar), and Law College Dehradun.
Dr Kaur is the author of 8 books (including Jurisprudence of e-Commerce and Consumer Protection, Cyber Laws & IT Protection, and Laws of Electronic Evidence and Digital Forensics) and editor of 5 volumes on emerging legal dimensions of cyber law, technology, and financial crimes. She has published over 125 research articles in peer-reviewed SCOPUS and WoS journals and contributed book chapters to Springer, Wiley, and Palgrave Macmillan. She has presented over 120 papers at national and international conferences and frequently serves as a judge, speaker, and panel chair at academic events.
Her work has been recognized with multiple awards, including Best Faculty Award (2017), Research Excellence Award (2023–2025), and Best Faculty Coordinator (2016). As a scholar and mentor, she actively shapes the future of legal studies in cybersecurity, technology law, and digital forensics.
