Our Faculty ranked 301–400 worldwide in Times Higher Education “Law” !

On 21 January 2026, Times Higher Education published the latest edition of its World University Rankings by Subject—one of the world’s two most prestigious academic ranking systems. In the “By Subject” format, the ranking evaluates individual disciplines and the academic units responsible for research and teaching, rather than entire universities.
We are proud to announce that the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdańsk has once again been included in the “Law” category—for the third year in a row—achieving a strong global position in the 301–400 band worldwide.
This is not only an important international recognition, but also the best result across all University of Gdańsk disciplines included in the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings. It confirms our Faculty’s strong and stable position on the international map of legal scholarship.
According to various estimates, there are between approximately 2,000 and 10,000 academic law faculties and law schools worldwide. Against this backdrop, it is particularly meaningful that only 425 institutions were included in the Times Higher Education By Subject – Law ranking. Within this highly selective group, our Faculty achieved third place in Poland, following Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw, ex aequo with several other Polish university law faculties.
We are also pleased to report progress in two of the five assessed pillars:
-
Research Quality
-
International Outlook
These improvements clearly demonstrate that the Faculty’s consistent investment in research excellence and its expanding international presence are delivering measurable results.
This achievement is a shared success of the entire Faculty community—researchers, academic teachers, students, and administrative staff. It reflects commitment, professionalism, high standards, and everyday responsibility for the quality of both research and education.
We also extend our warm congratulations to our partner Faculties of Law around the world on their own Times Higher Education ranking achievements. We are proud to collaborate with institutions that share a commitment to excellence in legal research and education.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this outstanding result—and thank you for your continued dedication.
