Dr. Magdalena Łągiewska (Department of Public International Law) took part in the 20th Annual Carribean Commercial Law Workshop in Miami, Florida, USA.
The Conference was organized by The Faculty of Law, University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus (Barbados) - our partner University and Faculty. Dr. Łągiewska was invited to participate in the Conference by the organizers: the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the UWI (Professor Eddy Ventose) and the Deputy Dean (Dr Antonius R. Hippolyte).
Dr. Łągiewska took part in the panel on International Dispute Resolution moderated by Dr Antonius R. Hippolyte together with Akima Paul Lambert, Shan Greer and Lanasia N. Nicholas. She presented the results of her research on "Chinese Approach to International Dispute Resolution with a special focus on International Commercial Arbitration" to a group of outstanding academics, lawyers and practitioners from the Caribbean region. The paper sparked an interesting discussion on Chinese engagement in the Caribbean and the possible methods of dispute resolution arising from the Belt and Road Initiative.
We would like to congratulate Ms. Doctor her another international scientific achievement. We would also like to congratulate the authorities of The Faculty of Law, University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus (Barbados) headed by the Dean, Prof. Eddy Ventose, for organizing such a prestigious event and to thank for inviting a representative of our Faculty to participate.
