5th International Scientific Seminar "Roman Maritime Law"
On April 19, 2023, the 5th International Scientific Seminar "Roman Maritime Law" was held, organized by the Department of Roman Law. The seminar accompanied the 11th National Conference on Maritime Law.
Organized since 2017, on the initiative of Assoc. Prof. Jacek Wiewiorowski, the Roman seminars are devoted to various aspects of Roman Maritime Law and the maritime activities of the Ancient Romans. The language of the conference is English.
Polish-German Scientific Seminar on the Functioning of the Judiciary in EU member states
On Friday, May 12, 2023 at our Faculty we hosted lawyers from the German-Polish Lawyers Association "Walbrzych-Marburg", based in Marburg, Germany. Our guests were received by Prof. Ewa Baginska - Head of the Department of Civil Law, and by Assoc. Prof. Sylwia Majkowska-Szulc with Assoc. Prof. Arkadiusz Wowerka, from the Department of Private International Law.
Academic visit of Dr. Hanna Wolska at Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic)
We are pleased to inform you that Dr. Hanna Wolska (Department of Public Economic Law and Environmental Protection) in April held a month-long academic visit to the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University in Brno, as a grantee of the Program for Personal Exchange of Students and Researchers in Bilateral Cooperation from funds of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
The City, University of London grant for Dr. Marcin Michalak
We are pleased to announce that Dr Marcin Michalak (Department of European Law and Legal Comparatistics) has been awarded a City, University of London grant for a week-long research fellowship on European Union Health Law. The stay will take place in May this year.

Scientific Visit of Dr. Magdalena Łągiewska to the University Of The West Indies
Dr. Magdalena Łągiewska (Department of Public International Law) has visited the University of the West Indies (Bridgetown, Barbados) under Erasmus+ program.
Dr. Łągiewska has delivered lectures at the Faculty of Law on: Dispute resolution in China (with a special focus on international commercial arbitration), Significance of the South China Sea dispute: an international law perspective and the Belt and Road Initiative and Smart court system and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Chinese judiciary.

The book titled: 中国与波兰关于国际商事仲裁协议效力的比较研究 is the first in a series of publications in Chinese, which outlines how a effectively effective arbitration agreement should be concluded under Chinese and Polish law. Disputes arising from the Belt and Road Initiative are a key element of strengthening economic relations.
